Keeping my promise. During the filming of *Navalny* (it didn’t even have a title yet at the time), Yulia @yulia_navalnaya and Odessa @odxssarae, the film’s producer, came over to me during a break. They were both wearing such funny space-age jackets that I asked someone to take a photo of us. We also talked about how cool the picture turned out, but unfortunately we couldn’t post it on Instagram: the filming was confidential, and we were trying to keep everything completely under wraps. So I joked: “I’ll post it when your film gets an Oscar nomination.” On January 24, the documentary *Navalny* was nominated for an Academy Award. As you know, I haven’t seen the film, but while before I could write to the film’s director, Roher @daniel_roher, and to everyone on the team that they were incredibly cool and tremendously talented—because that’s truly what I think—now it’s simply an established fact. I remember the day I met this odd pair—a Canadian director whose camera was held together with duct tape, and his red-haired producer who speaks Japanese—and I think: how great it is that, somewhat unexpectedly even to myself, I agreed to take part in the filming. Their eyes were shining, and I thought that it’s good to work with people whose eyes shine like that. This film is the result of enormous work by a large team of wonderful people. I wholeheartedly congratulate them on this high and well-deserved recognition of their work.
