As I understand it, all cars towed in the Central Administrative District of Moscow are taken to two places: Taganka and Presnya. Today it finally dawned on me why there are so many tow trucks in Taganka. They haul cars away from Marksistskaya Street in batches, even though there’s no serious traffic congestion there. I used to think it was because the prefecture is on Marksistskaya. And that, to show the prefect how efficiently everyone is working, these “relocators” tow cars right under his windows. But today I realized: it’s simply closer to drive them there!!! The state unitary enterprise "Vehicle Relocation" gets budget money for every car it tows. And if they take cars to Taganka from somewhere around Sukharevskaya, they can do 60 cars a day. But if they’re taking them from Taganka to Taganka, it’s 300. The difference in money is very substantial.
