The spring military draft has begun. An anti-draft march will take place in Moscow on March 31. And so the next topic of "Fight Club" is "Conscripts: Slaves or Defenders of the Fatherland?"
Speaking in favor of the draft will be the leader of the "Union of Officers," Stanislav Terekhov (I think he'll really go all out); against it — Vyacheslav Izmailov, military columnist for Novaya Gazeta. Hosts: Stas Kucher is against the draft; pavell is for it. By the way, over on Trakty, Pasha Svyatenkov really went off and said he would come in military uniform (he served for three years as an alpine rifleman), with a duffel bag, and would support dedovshchina (the brutal hazing of younger conscripts by older soldiers) and crippling punishments for young recruits. As if that's the only way to turn them into real men. As usual, everyone who comes will have a chance to ask the guests the toughest possible questions. If you have something to say on the subject of military conscription, come along. A detailed announcement with all the particulars is here: http://yellow-reporter.livejournal.com/718025.html Monday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m. Bilingua Club (10 bldg. 5 Krivokolenny Lane; Metro: Turgenevskaya, Chistye Prudy) Admission is free, as always!
