A whole bunch of “let’s be friends” requests have piled up on Odnoklassniki (a Russian classmates-focused social network). Almost all of them are from LiveJournal. I finally decided to sort out who was who, and I hit “decline” for everyone who hadn’t actually gone to school with me. A stupid thing to do—several people have already sent indignant messages, like, have you lost your mind, why won’t you add me? But I honestly don’t understand why you’d add anyone on Odnoklassniki other than your actual classmates. Everyone else is already on LiveJournal, ICQ, email, or in my mobile phone contacts anyway. What I should have done was not add anyone, but not decline them either. Like before. Because getting a “your request was declined” message still stings.
