We went to the Curonian Spit. Absolutely wonderful and so eco-friendly. And on the way back, we had a genuinely adorable little incident. We’re driving along, and I see some weird thing lying by the side of the road. And it’s moving, too. We get closer, and it’s wild boars. And they’ve got piglets with them. The piglets looked exactly like they do in cartoons, with little striped backs. The photo quality is bad—shot on a phone and while moving.

They’re not afraid of cars at all. We stopped to get a better look at them and squeal, “How adorable, look at their clever little faces,” and the tiny piggies immediately crawled under the car. And then it was unclear what to do. If you drive off, you might run them over. If you get out to shoo them away, you’ll come face to face with the huge boar, and he might not be pleased.

Well, in the end we made it through. Turns out there are loads of wild boars on the Curonian Spit. Before we reached the ferry, they ran across the road in front of us two more times.

We also saw a deer that turned out to be a hare. That’s exactly how it happened—my wife shouted, “Look, a deer! Aaaah... no, it’s a hare.” The hare really was enormous.
