I can't even remember the last time I wanted so badly to walk out halfway through a movie. The film "Seven Pounds" is something truly monstrous and unbearable. Yes, the last 10 minutes are very moving — a lump in your throat and all that. But the first 100 minutes are hell. Endless close-ups of Will Smith going through some kind of emotional drama whose meaning remains unclear. People started leaving the theater around the 70-minute mark, and we chickened out and stayed. Which we regretted.
