Yesterday my wife and I went to a Boyarsky concert at club IKRA. Divine. I haven't had this much pleasure from a mass-cultural event in a long time. Boyarsky was dressed in a tunic-style jacket, a sweater, and a white shirt (and of course, the hat). He bowed gallantly to all three sides, kept reaching for the imaginary hilt of a sword, fencing, telling funny stories between songs, and generally was unbelievably charming. He shouted to the audience, "Greetings, scoundrels!" and it sent them into raptures. The crowd loved it. Someone brought a sign saying, "Mikhuil, you are our everything," and Boyarsky took the sign for himself and joked merrily about "Mikhuil." In the final verse of the signature song, all four hundred voices were drawing out: "Whispering to fateooooooooooooooooooom." He even sang "Black Pond," even though in the film that song isn't sung by him. All in all, if MB gives more concerts like this, I absolutely recommend them.
