The newspaper Kommersant is my favorite. Say what you will, but its authority is such that if they write something, nobody bothers to check it. And so, all it took was for them to screw up and write that the "DA!" movement had not received a grant from the Civic Chamber (a consultative civil society body in Russia), and a trillion other outlets immediately copied it. Some even produced heart-rending analytical articles: **"By agreeing to award a grant to the ‘Da!’ movement, the Civic Chamber could have demonstrated its impartiality and—more importantly—its understanding that those in power are not the same thing as the state." **http://www.globalrus.ru/comments/783121 In fact, the "DA!" movement appeared in the application as the "Youth Programs Support Foundation." It is a nonprofit foundation established by me and m_gaidar to finance those "DA!" projects that require funding. As for the "DA!" movement itself, we never registered it and have no plans to do so. And on that point, there has been a political decision by all "DA!" participants for a year and a half now. The law on public associations very nicely allows us to exist without registration. How much money was awarded—we don't know ourselves. But we are on the list of organizations whose applications were approved. We applied for funding for several projects, including debates. So it's entirely possible that at the next debate I'll be tossing bundles of dollars off the stage.
