The attempt failed—the guy shot back. According to Interfax, hitmen ambushed the entrepreneur in the courtyard of his home on Leninsky Prospekt. When the businessman got out of his SUV, they opened fire on him with a Kedr submachine gun. The man was wounded in the stomach, but that did not stop him from putting up active resistance: the businessman returned fire with an Izh-71 pistol. He was legally entitled to carry a weapon as the owner of a private security company. After coming under return fire, the attackers fled.
