Proposals for ensuring security on the Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed rail line were presented yesterday to the public council under the Transport Ministry by Gennady Denisyuk, director of the ministry’s Department of Transport Security and Special Programs. Round-the-clock video surveillance of the line must be provided, to be monitored by guards at fixed security posts, according to the summary of his remarks published on the Transport Ministry’s website. Each post should be staffed by 20 armed guards, and the posts themselves should be placed every 20 km (12.4 miles) along the line, the document says.
