So, my friends. Let’s finally decide what to do with Twitter.
A few months ago I dropped by the Forbes editorial office and ran into my friend sardanapal, who explained to me that anyone without Twitter is a loser. And that Twitter is becoming a handy tool for overthrowing anti-people regimes all over the world. I’m very much in favor of overthrowing anti-people regimes (quote). So I got myself a Twitter account. http://twitter.com/navalny A few months have passed. For some reason, the regime still hasn’t fallen. Which brings me to the question: how exactly are you supposed to use it? Because it’s kind of dumb to just post links to your LiveJournal posts on Twitter. People say Twitter is great for spreading links, especially to videos. How would a video link on Twitter be any different from one on LiveJournal? It seems to me the audiences overlap 100%. How do you post? As I understand it, everywhere else in the world people do it by phone, via text messages. In Russia, you can’t do that. I get what a "reply" is, but what is a "retweet"? If you actually can post via text message, then what, do all the replies come back as texts too? That’s impossible. How many followers counts as a lot, and how many as a little? Where’s the "overthrow the regime" function? And so on. Let’s sort this out once and for all, set up our Twitter accounts, and overthrow everyone. I’m sick of them already. And if Twitter doesn’t work, we’ll do it the old-fashioned way. Buy weapons.
