Yesterday’s post about cybercrime caused, uhhh... quite a stir in the comments. I’ve noticed that technical and software-focused posts almost always make people desperately want to argue. If I ever want a post with 5,000 comments, it should probably look like this: "Friends, please tell me, is it really worth switching to Apple products after all?" But that’s not what I wanted to talk about. User pazzive sent me a link to his post, where he’s trying to organize a small jihad against the organizers of virus SMS campaigns. The post includes instructions, a sample statement for the police (militsiya, the former Russian police force), and so on. Anyone interested can join in. The user is from Ukraine, but the steps in Russia can be almost exactly the same. I’m happy to give this a signal boost — pazzive wrote that he organized the campaign based on the model of my online mobs targeting Gazprom, VTB, and so on. I’m very glad that my modest efforts are giving rise to such wonderful examples of civic activism.
