Damn, right. While discussing that high-profile article about OMON (Russia’s special police riot unit), we completely forgot that some well-known people served there. Our brilliant Zakhar Prilepin was once an OMON officer himself!
What I wrote about happened in the ’90s—but over the next 10 years, things somehow got even more outrageous. We, the OMON officers of the ’90s, wrote letters like this too—even back then—to the leadership. But they never got this kind of response. Now, at last, the issue has been brought into the open. So I’m calling on OMON officers from every corner of the country: comrades and brothers, raise hell. Let’s put together another 15 or so letters like this—we can’t put up with this forever. The situation is more or less the same everywhere, and we all know it. Let’s break this lawlessness—it’s degrading to put up with this kind of humiliation. Here Zakhar, brother, that’s the right idea! Let’s spread his appeal far and wide so everyone hears it.
