GROZNY, Apr. 8 — RIA Novosti. A new housing loan system providing 50-year loans at 5% annual interest will be created in the North Caucasus Federal District, Alexander Khloponin, the Russian president’s envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District, said at a meeting with students. "As part of the development of the North Caucasus Federal District, plans are in place to create conditions for purchasing housing on preferential terms. Loans will be issued at 5% annual interest for 50 years. Families will have to pay 700 rubles a month. I think this amount is affordable for young families living in the region," Khloponin said. Khloponin stressed that the volume of housing construction in the Chechen Republic is higher than anywhere else in Russia. ////////// via a link from tor85 Uhhhh... And why not, for example, launch such a wonderful program in Kaluga, Tambov, or Ivanovo Region? They would be very happy to have such a program in Saratov, Samara, and Astrakhan Region. They would welcome such a program with enthusiasm in Tatarstan, Tyumen, and Sverdlovsk Region. Yes, actually, I wouldn’t mind getting a 5% mortgage for 50 years myself, even here in "bloated" Mooooscow. Or is this our new budget policy? In order to get these marvelous federal programs, does a regional governor have to organize terrorist attacks in his own region and neighboring ones? And the residents of Moscow Region (stupid and weak, since they don’t want to blow up the metro) will be paying out of their own pockets for the rest of their lives to fund this miracle mortgage for residents of the Chechen Republic.
"People here already drive Cayennes, and soon they’ll be driving Rolls-Royces," the president of Chechnya said. Can somebody remind me what percentage of Chechnya’s budget comes from subsidies from the rest of Russia? Is it below 98% yet?
