The Blue Buckets asked me to help promote their latest car/bike/pedestrian rally, which I’m happy to do. I fully understand how questionable this kind of promotion looks: everyone should join the rally, but I myself won’t be going because I don’t have the time. Unfortunately, that’s exactly the situation. I absolutely won’t be able to attend the event this Saturday myself, but I’m sending my warm regards, so to speak, and urging everyone else to come: June 19, Saturday, 1:00 p.m., Zubovsky Blvd., inner side As usual, we’re gathering on the inner side of the Garden Ring, near the RIA Novosti building on Zubovsky Boulevard. We’ll do a couple of loops around the Garden Ring, and then, depending on people’s wishes and the weather, we’ll either go out for shashlik (barbecue) or first head to the police station (OVD, local precinct) to get any detainees released, and then go for shashlik :) So as not to interfere with anyone driving out to their dacha (country house) or taking sick children to the hospital, we’ll drive slowly and carefully in the far-right lanes with our hazard lights on. *Details: Parking will be prohibited on Zubovsky. The traffic police (GIBDD) will once again put up a temporary “no stopping or parking” sign and fill the whole square with their own cars. Solution: keep circling nearby, then at 1:00 p.m. pull onto the square and catch up with the Blue Buckets column, which will be moving slowly. You don’t have a bicycle or a car. Solution: post here and someone will pick you up. The traffic cops will be lawless as usual. Solution: pay all your fines before the rally, remove your window tint, place your vehicle inspection sticker IN THE LOWER RIGHT CORNER of the windshield, print out and read the administrative regulations, review the traffic rules, the Code of Administrative Offenses, Order No. 185, and bring a video camera and voice recorder. Learn every possible legal reason for a stop, record all interactions with the traffic police on video.
