I've never run a poll on my LiveJournal before. But the wonderful reports saying that "a government commission from Chechnya has gone to Rostov Region to investigate an incident at the Don summer camp" made me think it would actually be interesting to do one. So this is how I phrased the poll. A preemptive note to all the "Captain Obvious" types: yes, obviously it's more complicated than that. I know about the legal conflict, the geography, the other Caucasus republics, Chechens living in the rest of the Russian Federation, and a lot more besides. That's not the point. I want to get a sense of the mood on LJ (and yes, I realize this is all unrepresentative and blah blah blah). If you have a more detailed position besides just "yes/no," write it in the comments — I'm sure everyone will read it with great interest.
