Because one of Moscow’s most famous postcard views, opposite the Pashkov House, is now going to be disfigured by a monstrosity. Even the three-meter-high fence now surrounding the hill already hurts to look at; what it will be like when a 24-meter-tall building rises behind it is terrifying to imagine. When I say a monstrosity is going to appear, here’s what I mean. Academician Vladimir Kolosnitsyn, who designed this building, is the worst architect in Moscow. That is my personal judgment, but I want to assure the reader that it is an objective one. Judge for yourself. This man built the White Swan restaurant, blocking off Chistoprudny Boulevard. Anyone who has seen that lopsided shed, decorated with sausage-shaped columns topped with capitals like plaster buckets, I think, must have cursed this master.
