People ask what I think of Boris Nemtsov’s initiative to raise money "using the Navalny method" to print the report Putin. Corruption. This is not really the "Navalny method," of course. Plenty of organizations, both abroad and in Russia, have been raising money this way for many years. We simply summarized the positive experience already out there and copied what could be applied in Russian conditions. Some charitable organizations (for example, the Pomogi.org foundation) have gone much further in fundraising than RosPil. I view it very positively and welcome it in every way. I have a hypothesis that the more projects raise money this way, the more money there is overall. People simply come to see this kind of financing as increasingly normal and acceptable. In other words, the participants are not competing for a pie worth, say, 20 million rubles a year, but through their activity they make the pie grow. Today you spend 300 rubles to support a project; three months later, if you think the money was spent effectively, you’ll spend 600 rubles. I think we will eventually publish all of our research and practical work in this area so that any interested organizations\activists won’t waste time on what we have already done and can put our experience into practice. The report itself is good and deserves wide circulation.
