There’s not much to say about yesterday’s LiveJournal outage. Nosik has already said it all: one, two. I’ll only add that, in my view, attacks on LiveJournal, Twitter, standalone blogs, and other independent platforms will continue and will happen much more often. Not because this is effective at all, but because it perfectly fits the logic of the authorities, for whom even the fight against the opposition is merely a pretext to steal money. DDoS attacks, hacks, bots, "blog placements"—for obvious reasons, all of this goes through the "gray cashbox," in other words, it’s paid for in cash. So some crooks like Surkov and Kostin sit around drafting a "counter-propaganda action plan." They draft it in such a way that 70% of the money can be pocketed by themselves. That’s all. No conspiracy theories. Let them keep at it. With every DDoS attack, people hate them even more. If only they’d DDoS Odnoklassniki.ru already—then there really would be a revolution. Friends in St. Petersburg asked me to remind everyone about the March of the Dissenters, which will take place today in that wonderful city. I’m happy to do so:
