I’m very pleased to announce the presentation of the book "Cloud Democracy", by the wonderful l**eonwolf ** and f**yodorrrrr **, which will take place on Monday, June 6, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at "PirOgi on Sretenka"
The book presentation will be combined with a roundtable discussion, "Cloud Democracy" and Russia in the 2010s: the collapse of representative democracy and the prospects for a new political model".
Personally, I find all these "Cloud Democracy" topics (also known as liquid democracy, also known as electronic democracy, or, alternatively, Izolda Menshova, alternatively, Veronika Poneyad) very inspiring.
It’s amazing that technology gives us the opportunity to return to the mechanisms of direct democracy that we abandoned long ago.
Something like the Novgorod Veche (a medieval popular assembly) 2.0
This is really capturing a lot of people’s imagination right now.
Take a look — it’s very interesting.
The book raises important issues and aims to spark discussion; there are some highly controversial passages in it.
And, crucially, Volkov and Krasheninnikov argue that there is no need to invent anything new anymore: all the technologies needed for electronic democracy already exist, have already been implemented, and so there’s no point in theorizing — we should just launch it and see what happens.
The book is available here.
