On Tuesday, Moscow’s Lyublinsky District Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by United Russia party member Vladimir Svirid seeking 1 million rubles (about $32,000 at the time) in moral damages from well-known blogger Alexei Navalny, court spokeswoman Maria Balakshina told RAPSI/infosud.ru. The case stemmed from Navalny’s appearance on Finam FM, during which he made unflattering remarks about members of United Russia, accusing them of corruption. "In his claim, the plaintiff stated that these assertions damaged his honor, dignity, and business reputation, and therefore asked the court to order Navalny to retract the false information he had disseminated, as well as to pay 1 million rubles in compensation for moral harm.
