If you thought we had dropped the VTB case, you were mistaken. We’re chewing away at them little by little, even though the crooks-and-thieves at this state bank have built a pretty solid defense. We still have not been able to review the investigative materials related to our complaint, despite the fact that we managed to obtain a Constitutional Court ruling on this issue. VTB is clearly “working closely” with the Moscow City Court. They keep refusing, and even the Constitutional Court means nothing to them. Still, while digging through the paperwork on the drilling rigs deal, we discovered that VTB’s “effective managers” also pulled off some slick fraud with VAT refunds and, using forged documents, siphoned about 119 million rubles from the Russian federal budget (about US$4 million at the time). The scheme is not the easiest to grasp for people who do not really understand how VAT works, so I won’t go into detail right now. There will be a separate post on this topic, and the curious can simply read our crime report submitted to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for Moscow. We have made a new video about the “drilling rigs case,” in which we directly name everyone involved in the theft of $150,000,000. We would be very grateful for any help spreading it around. Anything helps: social media, Twitter, ICQ, and Skype. It is important to circulate the video this week in particular: there are 185,000 participants in VTB’s “people’s IPO” (a mass retail share offering). With their families and relatives, that is a million voters. Let them know how they are being robbed with impunity by the managers of a state bank headed by a member of the Supreme Council of the Party of Crooks and Thieves (a derogatory opposition nickname for the ruling United Russia party). Before watching the video, to get into the right frame of mind, you should reread this news item: VTB* in Q4 2011 increased compensation for members of its management board by 48.6% compared with the same period in 2010, to 72.691 million rubles, according to the state bank’s quarterly report. According to the reporting-period data, VTB’s management board had 11 members. In Q4 2010, payments to the management board, including salaries and bonuses, totaled 48.933 million rubles. For 2011, compensation for management board members reached a record 607.791 million rubles — 3.5 times more than in 2010 (174.398 million rubles). ht*tp://www.vedomosti.ru/newsline/news/1500455/vtb_v_iv_kvartale_uvelichil_vyplaty_chlenam_pravleniya_na
