On the night from Thursday to Friday, eight cars with Dagestani license plates arrived in Demyanovo from Syktyvkar to support “their own.” This morning, a group of local young men (around 100 people) headed to the area of a sawmill owned by Dagestanis (located near the Demyanovo police station) to “settle matters.” They were met by 30 to 40 Dagestanis, some of whom were armed with shotguns and automatic weapons. Shots were fired, mostly into the air. However, according to preliminary information from our source in Demyanovo, three of the “locals” suffered gunshot wounds. By now, weapons have also appeared in the hands of Demyanovo residents, and the confrontation is taking on the character of a shootout. The local police are unable to stop the escalation. People in Demyanovo are hoping for the arrival of OMON riot police from Kirov. Adult residents of Demyanovo are trying to negotiate with adult Dagestanis in order to resolve the conflict peacefully.
