You probably live far from Khimki, but really want to help Chirikova, who is fighting an uphill battle against the candidate from the “party of crooks and thieves” (a popular opposition nickname for United Russia)? There’s an option. Remember the project “Krasnodar,” when we sent about 100,000 VKontakte messages to residents of Krasnodar Krai and told them about Governor Tkachyov’s niece, the “non-existent” fence around Governor Tkachyov’s dacha, for which Suren Gazaryan was prosecuted, and other such exploits? We’ve made the same kind of thing, but this time for Khimki. This time it’s nice, friendly, non-aggressive, and improved based on previous experience (there are no inactive accounts in the database). Our goal is maximum turnout in the election. The more voters show up, the more votes Chirikova gets. Shakhov, the nasty United Russia candidate disguising himself as an independent, wants the opposite: the lower the turnout, the larger the share of “administrative-resource votes” — early voting, mobile voting, public-sector employees whose votes can be monitored, and so on. There are 21,634 VKontakte users over the age of 18 who listed Khimki as their place of residence. That’s a lot, considering that Khimki has only 142,000 voters in total, and each of those 21,000 VK users has relatives and friends. We need to remind all of them that the mayoral election in Khimki will take place on October 14, that they absolutely need to come vote, and ask them to tell their loved ones as well. The more we raise turnout, the more we disrupt the plans of the “party of crooks and thieves,” and the more we help the people’s candidate, Chirikova. Log in to VKontakte and go to the website. Here’s what the first page of the site looks like: http://khimki.mashina.org/ :

You can choose another person to send a message to:

And be sure to post the link on social media.

No spam. This is your personal message to another person. Once the recipient gets the message, they are removed from the database. So no one will get written to ten times. There are no violations of election law here either. A perfectly reasonable way for each of us to help Chirikova at least a little. Also: Very important. Registration is open for election observers in Khimki. Here: http://khimki.rosvybory.org/ Also very important. This coming Saturday, the second volunteer campaign trip to Khimki will take place. I went on one like this myself last Saturday. This time the main campaign ringleaders will be I***lya Yashin and Ksenia Sobchak ***they’ll be handing out rhinestones to Khimki residents October 6. 13:00. Meet at Leningradsky Station. The commuter train leaves at 13:46. Arrives at 14:12. Campaigning until 16:50. 17:00. A meeting between cultural figures and voters. It will take place in a hall at Country Park http://www.cpark.ru/business/Location/transport/  (74–75 km of the MKAD, Moscow Ring Road, Khimki, Panfilova St., property 19.) The meeting with cultural figures is also being organized by Ksusha S. (she sometimes wears glasses, so feel free to count her among the cultural set). Khimki’s United Russia isn’t going to drive itself out. http://khimki.mashina.org/ Update. Everything works great. I’ve already even received one reply:
