But it will be closing soon. Never mind that the actual voting will take place on the 20th and 21st—online registration ends on October 18. Hurry. Register right now. I personally got verified by bank transfer. But right now the most popular verification method is by photo. You take a picture of yourself holding your passport so that your name and photo are visible, email it in, and that’s it. Within a few hours, an operator will confirm your verification. And that’s what this post is about. Let’s combine the internet’s favorite pastime—photos (decent ones only, of course; this is an election)—with a last-days publicity campaign in support of registration. I often see women who have taken verification photos also posting them to Twitter and Facebook.

Because everyone who sees posters like these will no doubt think: "The very word ‘voter’ used to make me think of a lonely old lady with a string shopping bag heading to the polls to vote for the authorities and pick up a cheap bread roll while she’s at it. But this is something completely different... I want to become a voter too!"
