Today, deputies approved in the first reading their proposed amendments to the Federal Law on Mass Media. As the author of the amendments, Moscow City Duma Chairman Vladimir Platonov, noted at the session, under Article 26 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, a citizen has the right to determine for themselves whether to state or not state their ethnic identity, "and no one may be compelled to declare their nationality."
