Yaroslav Belousov. 21 years old. A student at Moscow State University. He has been under arrest since June 8. According to the prosecution, he threw "something yellow and shapeless" at an OMON officer (riot police), and the main evidence for the prosecution consists of witness testimony: the Interior Ministry leadership appointed special "victims" who now "recognize and identify" those detained in the "Bolotnaya Case" (the criminal case following the 2012 Bolotnaya Square protests in Moscow).

Belousov has a small child, he is an excellent student, and he is clearly not planning to go into hiding (after May 6 he was detained, released, and then came to court of his own accord, where he was given one day of administrative arrest), yet he is being held in pretrial detention. I once went to Yaroslav's hearing on pretrial restrictions: he looks exactly like a bespectacled straight-A university student who has, for some reason, been put in a cage. He is holding up very firmly, like a top student too: he has learned everything and is completely convinced that he is right.

Poet Lev Rubinstein speaks about Yaroslav Belousov:
