Yesterday, as part of the "One Day, One Name" campaign, people were talking about Anastasia Rybachenko. I was in Kirov and couldn't write a post, so read Yashin's post. And today, let's remember Nikolai Kavkazsky. He has been under arrest in a pre-trial detention center (SIZO) since July 25, 2012.

Nikolai was detained after the May 6 rally and then released. Three months later, he was arrested. There is no injured party in Nikolai's case, because the "investigation" did not find any OMON officer (Russian riot police) allegedly harmed by him. Kavkazsky is accused of "striking OMON officers with his hands and feet." The basis for the charges is a video recording in which a police officer beats Nikolai with a baton, along with testimony from the police officer who made that recording. Kavkazsky suffers from a medical condition and needs a special diet. Obviously, no such diet will be provided in the pre-trial detention center, and he has gained 25 kilograms (about 55 pounds).
