A great day. Today, many who had been mistaken finally became convinced that on the one-seventh of the world’s landmass called Russia, there is no normal state authority.
There is no system for personnel decisions, no accountability at the highest level of power. There is only a running track between offices. The owner of the fur vault today ran along it for 14 minutes to the right place, promised to send something to Timchenko and Rotenberg and to buy Alina Kabaeva a diamond the size of a locomotive, and, amazingly, kept his job. A wonderful story. P.S. Employees of our Anti-Corruption Foundation, who had spent the last few days writing a pile of complaints about Yakunin, were furious during those 14 minutes and were angry with me because I hadn’t had time to sign and publish the complaints. But since old man Yakunin has once again made our work relevant, we’ll continue it.
