Citizens elect fellow citizens as their city mayors through honest, competitive elections. That is right, and that is how it should be. Only this way can we ensure that mayors are honest and cities are decent places to live. Then the thieves from "United Russia" come along and fabricate criminal cases against the mayors who defeated them in a fair fight for citizens' votes. They remove them from office so they can go back to stealing from the budget at every level: from housing and utilities to roads, from kindergartens to outdoor advertising. The insatiable brute from United Russia wants ALL the power so he can steal ALL the money. They do not care whom citizens voted for or whom they want in power.
If we stay silent, this brute will devour people one after another. Whoever we choose, they will destroy him. So it is not enough just to elect someone — we must defend them too. Today at 6:00 p.m., a peaceful People's Assembly will take place in the square by Yaroslavl City Hall, near the Alexander Nevsky Chapel, where city residents will discuss what is happening. I am sure that in the proud city of Yaroslavl there are many people with self-respect who will come to this People's Assembly to say exactly what they think about the splendid teamwork of the thieves from "United Russia" and the falsifying thugs from the Investigative Committee (Russia's federal investigative agency). The Yaroslavl branch of the "People's Alliance" has already joined in spreading this information. I hope other organized political groups will join this effort as well. After all, you can certainly do what I am doing right now while sitting on the defendant's bench in the Kirov court, can't you? You can do much more than that.
How can we help? Everyone: - spread this information across all networks. Surely a couple of Yaroslavl residents read you. Yaroslavl residents: - place this information in all media outlets - write about the People's Assembly on all local forums and in the comments on every article in the local press. - you have plenty of time to send 20 text messages and make a couple of calls to friends/acquaintances/relatives and invite them to the People's Assembly. - you have plenty of time to print 20 flyers about the assembly on your home or office printer and post them on nearby buildings and in busy public places - take part in the People's Assembly. Put more emphasis on text messages and personal calls than on social media. Ask everyone who says they will come with you to make a few calls as well. But do not forget social media either. Notify all your followers on every platform. This is not even just about Urlashov, although whether he remains free depends on our activity. It is about defending our right to defeat the thieves from United Russia at the ballot box. The People's Assembly is an excellent and entirely peaceful event. Everyone who does not want to be a slave to the Party of Crooks and Thieves should definitely come.
