The head of the Pugachyov district, Stanislav Sidorov, began reading a speech, but one of the protesters poured a bottle of water over his head. Residents are demanding that natives of Chechnya be expelled from the city and district, and if the authorities do not comply, the locals say they will do it themselves. Sidorov proposed creating an initiative group and signing an appeal, but people in the crowd shouted back: "Take your Chechens back to the mountains" and "Why write anything, what initiative group? Expel them!".

According to investigators, the paratrooper was stabbed with a scalpel by a 16-year-old Chechen near the Golden Barrel bar. The suspect has been detained and placed under arrest. On July 7, after Marzhanov's funeral, at least 200 townspeople gathered in the central square.
