There are 40 people on the list—both party representatives and independent candidates. They now have one more day to submit to the election commission the full set of documents required for registration as a candidate. Among other things, the contenders must provide signatures in support of their candidacy, financial reports, and notices confirming they do not hold bank accounts abroad. Today, the leader of the Yabloko party, Sergei Mitrokhin, and the LDPR (Liberal Democratic Party of Russia) representative, Mikhail Degtyaryov, submitted their documents to the Moscow City Election Commission. Earlier, Nikolai Levichev of A Just Russia and Ivan Melnikov of the Communist Party had already done so. As had the current acting mayor, Sergei Sobyanin. He is running as an independent candidate, so in addition to the signatures of municipal deputies, Sobyanin also submitted signatures from voters in his support. What they have in common is their level of competence when it comes to governing a state. And their attitude toward that state and its population is, to put it mildly, consumerist. Ours, admittedly, have not yet set their sights on the Constitution—they're limiting themselves to criminal charges. But that's for now.
