The rain, of course, has been getting on our campaign headquarters' nerves. It hits our “cube-based” canvassing format hard: newspapers get soaked, it’s cold, and people aren’t exactly eager to stroll around outside. We were worried about Saturday’s numbers, but as it turned out, there was no need — 338,000 campaign leaflets were handed out. I’ve always believed that self-organization is a tremendous force, and yesterday proved it once again. At many cubes, people simply went into the metro and handed out newspapers there, without any “instructions from headquarters.” Of course, we don’t know exactly how many were distributed in the metro (we only have precise figures for the special metro cubes — 44,400), but we assume that metro outreach from all the cubes is what brought the total to 338,000. As you can easily tell just by looking out the window, it’s pouring again today. So today we want to turn all our cubes into metro cubes.
Of course, we’re keeping our standard metro cubes, where briefings are held. Today they are located at: Novokuznetskaya metro station (outside the station) 2:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Dobryninskaya metro station (outside the station) 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Barrikadnaya metro station (outside the station) 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Ploshchad Revolyutsii metro station (by the Karl Marx monument) 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. Kurskaya metro station (outside the station) 2:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
But if you don’t need a briefing anymore, just come to any cube, take a stack of newspapers, and hand them out to passengers in the train cars. They’ll gladly read a newspaper if you hand them one.
One good volunteer in the metro is a super-canvasser who can bring in several hundred votes in a week.
