It’s simply disgusting to look at this. Apparently it’s not enough for Sobyanin to be constantly on TV, not enough that he’s enlisted all the social workers and municipal maintenance office employees as campaigners—now he’s also stooping to utterly shameful dirty tricks. They went and pasted homemade “For Navalny” posters onto several Moscow monuments.
They photographed it. Then spread it all over social media through “paid bloggers.” They weren’t even ashamed to contact the relatives of the people whose sculptures they plastered with this garbage and drag them into it. And then they started churning out articles in some of the most shamelessly bought-off media outlets, like “Komsomolskaya Pravda” or “Chelovek i Zakon.” And of course the media immediately went with: “Moscow police to investigate Navalny supporters desecrating monuments.” Nothing new, of course. Just the usual petty Nashi-style tactics (a reference to the pro-Kremlin youth movement) and the routine spending of the election budget. What’s disgusting is that this is being done by the mayor of a city where 15% of the country’s population lives. Citizens Sobyanin, Rakova, and Shvetsova.
Don’t you have anything better to do? You’re supposed to be such capable administrators. Well then, go do some actual work. Are you really so afraid of a second round of voting that you have to hang someone else’s stickers on the Vysotsky monument at night? That alone is why everyone needs to go out into the streets again today and take part in campaigning, to push back against these petty, disgusting frauds. They’re not just humiliating themselves—they’re humiliating all of Moscow. Just imagine that meeting where officials paid with our money sit there planning the covering of Moscow monuments with fake Navalny stickers. How revolting. Campaign cubes and leaflets are waiting for you. Metro passengers and passersby are waiting for you. The only ones not waiting are Mayor Sobyanin and his campaign chief Rakova. They’re stirring up a bucket of green paint at 13 Tverskaya Street so they can pour it over “Yury Dolgoruky” and put out a statement saying “Navalny desecrated the mace and spear so dear to Muscovites”. That is exactly why we must come.
