Out of nowhere, those fools from the "Young Guard of United Russia" have crawled out again with a sensational demand: “Young Guard” proposes stripping Alexei Navalny of his lawyer status. They even wrote a letter to Reznik at the bar association. They really have no idea how else to draw attention to themselves. Well, at least they’re not setting forests on fire again. Since, in the Putin-Bastrykin legal system, I am a criminal convicted of an intentional offense, the bar association simply had no other legal option: they were required to strip me of my lawyer status. It was completely inevitable, and it happened on November 16, 2013. That is why yesterday, when I testified in the Nikulinsky District Court in the “Bolotnaya case” (the prosecution of protesters over the 2012 Bolotnaya Square rally in Moscow), and the court asked where I worked, I answered exactly this: temporarily unemployed. And afterward I told everyone who was curious that I had been stripped of my status—what secret is there in that? So there is no need to “demand” anything here. The bar association notified both the Ministry of Justice and everyone else it was supposed to about the revocation of my status. Incidentally, it is amusing that along with my lawyer status, I also lose the proud title of “special subject,” which Bastrykin’s people used to explain why all cases against me were being handled by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee. Losing my status will bring certain changes to my work and my life, but I want to assure the “Young Guard of United Russia” and United Russia itself that this will not make things any easier for them.
