Today I went to the "Bolotnaya case" (the prosecution of protesters over the 2012 Bolotnaya Square demonstration in Moscow). It was hot and stifling. Getting into the courtroom was impossible—there was barely enough room even for the relatives. And it was hard even to get into the courthouse itself—then it was no longer hot, but cold. But you have to go. Personal presence as a political stance is the most important thing there is. As history has shown many times, and as our neighbors are showing right now, the most powerful weapon against any government is simply to show up somewhere and stand there. Cold, hot, whatever.
