In case anyone missed it (because this came out late last night), BuzzFeed decided to dig a little into TV host Kiselyov’s involvement in programs funded by the U.S. State Department. Former Ambassador McFaul mentioned it on Twitter, apparently fed up with the kind of people who denounce “the damn Americans” on Tuesdays and then beg for a visa at the embassy with a meek little smile on Wednesdays:
(Stebenkova is one of those rabid United Russia deputies in the Moscow City Duma who is now a fierce “patriot,” but used to belong to both Democratic Choice and the Union of Right Forces, and, judging by what McFaul says, also did some work for NDI — the National Democratic Institute.) What a hypocritical toad. Not sometime back in the 1990s, but in 2012, when all that talk was already going around about “foreign intelligence services funding the unrest on Bolotnaya” (Bolotnaya Square, the site of major anti-government protests in Moscow), she was traveling on the U.S. State Department’s dime under the “International Visitor Leadership Program.” Then she came back and kept croaking on the zombie box about the “fifth column of Western stooges.”
