In May 2016, Alexei Navalny and members of the ACF, together with their families, traveled to Russia’s Krasnodar region for a team-building trip. With tents, backpacks, campfires, and a hiking route through the mountains, the group set out from Ubinskaya, crossed the foothills of the Caucasus, and planned to fly back to Moscow from Anapa. After the hike, however, the trip took a darker turn. At Anapa airport, the group was attacked by men wearing Cossack uniforms. Several people were beaten, knocked to the ground, and doused with milk. This gallery preserves the peaceful part of that journey — before an ordinary hiking trip by Alexei and his team was turned into a public act of intimidation.
