See the difference: this is
an unauthorized rally in Moscow
that took place on Sunday, with streets blocked off,
chants, and, well, a full-scale protest.
They have every right to protest; they have demands
that are, broadly speaking, just — against genocide
of Muslims. They came out, as you said, but there was no
application, no permit, none of the other
nonsense they are constantly throwing at us.
And yet Moscow’s police department says
that there were no violations of public
order, and no one was detained.
No administrative reports were filed.
What’s more, some kind of
armed men were spotted at the rally — everyone saw them
online, but the Moscow police
for some reason paid absolutely no
attention to them. So that’s all fine. But this,
on the other hand, is Elvira Dmitrieva, a former
employee of Kazan Federal
University, who became the coordinator of our
headquarters in Kazan, and on Monday she was
sentenced to 10 days in jail.
According to the case materials, Dmitrieva
posted on social media that
people could come to our headquarters and pick up leaflets
to hand out. By doing so,
Dmitrieva organized public
campaigning on the internet among
an unlimited number of people, calling on them
to take part in an unauthorized
public event, the police said.
Elvira was put in handcuffs right there in the
courthouse and taken away under escort
to serve her sentence. So tell me,
please: are everyone in Russia equal before
the law? So this is considered normal, but this
is a crime?
What more proof do you need? What other
reasons do you still need in order to
stand up against this government — people
who have seized power in our country, both
at the Kremlin level and in the regions?
It is a gathering of the most deceitful, the most
disgusting, the most thieving scoundrels.
They are hypocritical through and through, and they no longer
feel any shame. Come over to the side of good.
You understand perfectly well that with this kind of
government, this kind of approach, this kind of
obvious double standard, the country
cannot develop.
You and I have no
future as long as these people are in power.
