Hello, friends, very soon

0:33

when speaking of 2017, we’ll say: last year it

0:37

was, of course, very different for each of

0:40

us, but I’m sure everyone can remember

0:42

some joyful, happy moments. In the

0:46

tradition of a New Year’s address, you’re really

0:47

supposed to say: it was not an easy

0:50

and difficult year for all of Russia.

0:52

And next year we will once again have to

0:54

tighten our belts. But honestly, I must admit, if

0:57

you haven’t noticed already,

0:58

the Kremlin behind me is just painted for now,

1:01

not real, so I won’t speak on behalf of all Russia.

1:03

As for me, this year was

1:06

interesting. I spent it among you,

1:08

traveled all over the country, met and

1:10

became friends with a huge number of

1:12

wonderful, courageous people.

1:14

I worked with a wonderful team. Some things

1:17

worked out for us, and some didn’t, and in 2018

1:20

we will try to do better. The main thing

1:22

is that once again I realized what an

1:24

amazing country we have, and what good people

1:28

live in it. In fact, we did have

1:30

difficult situations in the year now ending,

1:32

but

1:33

in 99 percent of cases, we received

1:36

nothing but support and sympathy, even from

1:38

complete strangers. So

1:40

now, in the final minutes of 2017, I

1:44

sincerely want to wish everyone, regardless

1:47

of their political views,

1:48

a Happy New Year.

1:51

Be healthy, and don’t stay apart

1:53

from your loved ones for long. Do what

1:55

you believe is right, say what

1:58

you want to say, be friends with those you like.

2:01

Start a new life on January 1—or don’t

2:04

start one, if you have no such plans.

2:07

Be yourselves, but remain

2:09

good people who act properly and

2:13

honestly in any situation. In 2018, as in

2:17

any other year, everything depends only on us

2:20

ourselves. Happy New Year!
