A preliminary hearing is being held today in the Yves Rocher case. The proceedings are closed — everyone was removed from the courtroom except the parties and their official representatives. Even the wives were asked to leave.

At the start of the hearing, prosecutors asked for Alexei Navalny's house arrest to be extended. After that, the judge read out a motion from the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN), in which the agency stated that "Navalny had violated the terms of his house arrest by posting on social media and publishing an article in The New York Times," and therefore demanded that his house arrest be replaced with pretrial detention. After this, the prosecution representatives suddenly changed their position and joined the demand to replace Alexei's house arrest with detention in custody.

Judge Korobchenko ~~was trying to get through to the higher-ups~~ spent two hours deciding on the motion.

In the end, she ruled to extend the house arrest by six months.

The court hearing is still ongoing at the moment.
