Come on, why are you all bashing the May Day demonstration on Red Square? "Soviet kitsch," "an embarrassment," and so on.

Well, where else would you hold a demonstration? I actually rather like that marches take place by the Kremlin. Of course, only those with the right slogans are allowed:

Of course, it’s disgusting to watch these "columns of workers" being led by some creeps who have nothing whatsoever to do with working people and are, in fact, the very ones exploiting them:

But overall, nostalgia for the outward trappings of the USSR is understandable, and there’s nothing especially terrible about it.

And we do need a Workers’ Solidarity Day—a day for trade unions and for defending labor rights.

Balloons, banners, ~~Sobyanin is our mayor~~—all that stuff.

Enjoy the good weather and the shashlik (grilled meat skewers), citizens.

Happy holiday!
