Be sure to read Vedomosti’s (a Russian business newspaper) major investigation, "How the Moscow Metro Is Run." It’s especially useful for those who like to write in my comments, "so what if Liksutov is a crook — at least he gets things done."
This is exactly about how they "get things done." Remember how I pointed out that Liksutov brazenly manipulates safety statistics? Now, after the accident, that chart of his looks absolutely disgusting:
*Vedomosti* points this out as well:
And there’s plenty more of interest. For example, did you know that 234 million rubles were allocated to "creating a positive image for the metro," and that Besedin increased the number of his deputies to 12?
In short, read it. It’s interesting and informative. It’s a solid critical take from a respected newspaper, instead of the usual stuff being fed to us — stuff that seems to be a byproduct of those 277 million rubles allocated for "improving the image."
