Remember this guy?

This is Mikhail Lesin, now the head of Gazprom-Media and one of the key people responsible for enforcing censorship in Russia; previously, he was the press minister, a presidential adviser, and so on.

Everywhere he worked, conflicts of interest and all sorts of shady dealings followed him. The "Gusinsky episode" alone says a lot.

A great patriot, and a big fan of reports about Russia "rising from its knees," the evils of America, Putin’s greatness, "making the country great again," and all that stuff.

And, like any "state-funded patriot," Mikhail Lesin has the full set of proof of his patriotism.

Here is a letter from U.S. Senator Wicker to U.S. Attorney General Holder, in which he calls for an investigation into Lesin over corruption and money-laundering allegations, on the grounds that Lesin, while serving as a government official, was funneling money into an offshore account in the British Virgin Islands and invested part of that money in real estate in the United States (Los Angeles, California). The total amount was $28 million. Lovely.
