Alexander Gorbenko, Moscow’s deputy mayor for information policy, bought himself a 2-hectare (about 5-acre) plot of land in the Moscow region for 66 million rubles. The purchase was made in 2006, when Gorbenko was working at the state-owned newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Adjacent plots totaling more than 4,000 square meters are registered in the names of his wife and son. Even now, working at City Hall and earning a fairly substantial income of 7 million rubles, it is unclear where Gorbenko could have obtained the funds needed to acquire this property.
