That disgusting crook Sechin has already worn everyone out with his claims that he should be given everything under the sun because Rosneft is the country’s biggest taxpayer.

So it’s the biggest taxpayer—so what? What exactly is Rosneft’s business? We, the state, gave Rosneft the right to pump our oil—state-owned oil—out of the ground and sell it. The oil export duty and the mineral extraction tax that the company pays are precisely that so-called “contribution to budget revenues.”
But if you listen to Sechin, you’d think their business isn’t just mindlessly shipping 97 million metric tons of crude oil abroad every year, but that they’ve at least invented some kind of iPhone-cyclotrons and are now selling them in a competitive market using their unique business skills.
