On December 9, 2014, International Anti-Corruption Day, 100,000 Russian citizens completed the collection of the required number of signatures to formally submit to the Russian government the draft law “On Criminal Liability for the Illegal Enrichment of Officials.”

Many thanks to everyone, and congratulations to all of you—we have successfully completed the first stage of the #Twenty campaign (and we have an updated website!)

The bill now exists as a legal fact that cannot simply be brushed aside.

What we will do before the end of the year:

— Very soon, every member of the government’s expert working group (on this list) that will review our initiative will receive a packet of documents with arguments in support of the bill. In it, we will once again debunk the main myths, such as “it has already been ratified” and “it violates the presumption of innocence,” and provide sociological polling data as well as collected opinions from State Duma deputies. Right now, you can write on FB to the head of the expert group, Mikhail Abyzov, and tell him that you voted for the bill and demand a favorable decision on it and that it be sent to the State Duma for a vote.

— Continue demanding that every State Duma deputy publicly state their position on Article 20 of the UN Convention against Corruption.

— We will try to spread the story of the collected signatures as widely as possible in the media and on social networks, giving it maximum publicity.

— We will continue reaching out to well-known public figures and collecting their statements in support of our project. And making videos like this one (the guys from “Neschastny Sluchay” (a Russian rock band) are great—they always help):

What our next tasks are:

An open-ended offline campaigning effort, whose details we are still refining, but which will definitely include:

— Pickets in all major cities, at a rate of one picket for every 100,000 residents of Russia — Build a team of 1,500 highly committed activist campaigners ready to devote several hours a week to the campaign. Right now, we have 550 such volunteers on our list. Sign up here. — Make sure that 5 million people know about #Twenty not as “I’ve heard something about it,” but as “I know it very well.” — Conduct opinion polls that objectively measure the campaign’s effectiveness. Work with deputies in regional legislatures, making use of their right of legislative initiative.

There are also a huge number of other ideas and sub-projects. We will write about all of them. We are going to do a lot.

What you personally can do right now: — add the campaign badge to your profile picture (Sticker for your userpic) — order a car sticker with #Twenty campaign symbols, and we will send it to you for free! — print out the updated leaflet and post it in your apartment building entrance or put it in mailboxes, so your neighbors know what’s going on — distribute 100 newspapers about the #Twenty campaign. Write to us at 20@navalny.com, and we will send them to you.

Our goal: a) To ensure that the majority of Russian citizens, regardless of party affiliation, support the demands of the #Twenty campaign and put them forward as their own personal political demands.

b) To secure the criminalization of illegal enrichment and the prosecution of officials and employees of state companies/state corporations who have enriched themselves unlawfully.

I want to close with a freshly received quote from the famous deputy to whom we owe the emergence of the meme “United Russia is the party of crooks and thieves”:

Back to work, comrades! https://20.navalny.com/
