International Anti-Corruption Day is observed annually on December 9, starting from 2004. It was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly (Resolution No. A/RES/58/4).

On this day in 2003, the UN Convention against Corruption was opened for signature in Mexico. The very same convention whose Article 20 ratification we are collecting signatures for.

Many thanks to Elena Panfilova from Transparency International for telling Channel One’s audience (Russia’s main state TV channel) about this (from 7:04):

We only need 2,200 more signatures, and although we hadn’t planned it this way, it would be very symbolic to complete the petition today, on Anti-Corruption Day.

The two red lines on the secret chart have almost crossed. If everyone who has already voted spends 5 minutes today encouraging friends and acquaintances to join in, they will cross that very same day. A crimson peal will ring out across all of Russia (well, almost).
