A brief remark that I think is important to make now, while the investigation is still in its immediate aftermath.

I find it virtually impossible that Boris Nemtsov was not under physical surveillance last night.

Two facts:

Moreover, the key organizers of major opposition rallies and marches are always placed under physical surveillance beforehand. That includes even those who are not monitored in their “ordinary lives.” Boris was precisely such a key organizer, as you can easily see from both his latest posts and his public appearances.

And of course, we have all repeatedly seen operational materials about Nemtsov made public—video recordings, wiretaps—showing how closely he was being “watched over.”

Therefore, based on experience and established practice, I cannot accept that he could have been walking toward the Kremlin last night without anyone else watching him.
