The most powerful and striking footage. Especially from 0:56, where the subject is Crimea. One has to admit that Solovyov did an excellent job with this segment—it must have taken real effort to get Putin himself, as well as Solovyov, Dobrodeyev, Shoigu, Lavrov, Peskov, and Patrushev all into the frame.

You look at this footage and once again realize that we have seen all of this before. The approval ratings too—not 84%, but 99%—and the hunt for agents, and “all the children of the earth,” and the ribbons, and the campaign against the corrupting influence of Western dances, and Komsomol vigilantes (members of the Soviet Communist youth organization) dispersing pitiful little groups of intellectuals by the Mayakovsky monument, and the united bloc of communists and non-party members.
It all existed, it all seemed eternal and unshakable—and it all crumbled into dust, because it had been built on lies. On falsehood in every word, even in children’s poems.
And theirs will crumble too.
